Casos de sarampo têm aumento de 300% no mundo, diz OMS
A Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) anunciou que o número de casos de sarampo no mundo aumentou cerca de 300% no primeiro trimestre deste ano em comparação ao mesmo período de 2018.Dados preliminares divulgados pela OMS indicam que foram registrados mais de 112 mil casos de sarampo em 170 países nos três primeiros meses de 2019. A entidade informou que os recentes surtos da doença causaram muitas mortes, principalmente de crianças.Os casos de sarampo na África aumentaram em aproximadamente 700%, em comparação ao mesmo período do ano passado. Na Europa, o crescimento foi de 300%, apesar do uso de vacinas na região ser mais difundido.Segundo a OMS, o sarampo é quase totalmente evitável por meio de duas doses de uma vacina segura e eficaz. Mas a organização afirmou que somente 67% da população mundial tomaram a segunda dose.A OMS aconselha que as pessoas tomem as duas doses da vacina.
